Scuba Diving and snorkeling

Diving in Papua new Guinea is known to be ‘underwater photographer’s paradise’ and this is nothing short of the truth when it comes to our international award winning ocean. Enjoy a huge diversity of dive sites, including barrier reefs, coral walls and gardens, seagrass beds, and wreck dive sites e.g. ships, aircraft and submarines!

You can also Retreat from Moresby on a day trip to Lion Island, off Bootless Bay for a wondering day of snorkelling. Tours include snorkelling gear, shade, and light refreshments.

Kokoda Track

Our magnificent trails offer a range of intensities for you to tackle at your own pace making this an ideal destination for trekking and bushwalking. From just a few hours’ hike to eight plus days of trekking in the jungle, Papua New Guinea has something for every level of fitness. Known as one of the world’s most spectacular and challenging treks, the Kokoda Track is one to take on as the experience of a lifetime. The Kokoda Track has become a pilgrimage for many trekkers, connecting with the land and paying respect to the soldiers who fought and died here.

Culture

In Papua New Guinea you’ll come face to face with some of the oldest continuing culture on the planet. From our remote villages to our urban centres, you’ll find that our customs are passionately maintained in elaborate rituals that accompany deaths, feasts, marriages and many more. Some must see cultural experiences include witnessing a ‘singsing’ dance, music and ceremonial dress and enjoying the delicacies of a ‘mumu’, one of the world’s oldest slow-cooked ground-oven meals still in practice today.

Every Saturday there is a tradition Craft market held at different locations around town, take away some contemporary art or artefacts as a memento from one of Port Moresby’s weekend markets.

Adventure Park

Spread over 30 acres of tranquil tropical gardens the park is home to over 350 native animals and hundreds of plant species, many of which are rarely seen outside of PNG.

Port Moresby Nature Park is PNG’s only internationally recognized wildlife park and sets the benchmark in PNG for tourism, animal welfare, conservation, research and community nature-based education. Awarded the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence over 3 consecutive years it’s the only attraction in Papua New Guinea to have done so
